Bernetta Reese
Bernetta manages digital technology and large-scale projects for the U.S. Department of Agriculture where she is engaged in department- and federal-wide initiatives while serving as liaison to USDA’s 29 agencies and offices. She is an active leader in the federal community and helps to lead federal-wide efforts.
Bernetta recently served on detail as the Acting Digital Director for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management where she oversaw all of the agency’s digital platforms and public engagement efforts.
In 2015, Bernetta served on a detail through GSA’s Open Opportunities program with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy where she served as lead for the design and development team that built the first-ever Federal Crowdsourcing and Citizen Science Toolkit. Bernetta also served on a detail with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) as the acting Web and New Media Manager where she established digital policies and launched digital channels for the new federal agency.
Prior to USDA, Bernetta led critical web efforts and provided emergency web response for the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. With more than 15 years of public service, she has served throughout the federal government managing digital teams and federal websites with yearly outstanding performance achievements and award-winning results.
Bernetta has also played a key role in public engagement events and campaigns to help inform and engage the public via social media with the White House for the 2014 and 2015 State of the Union, the State Department’s 2014 Save Our Ocean Conference, and with NASA. She routinely speaks at public and private-industry events, most recently with ACT-IAC, the Partnership for Public Service, Potomac Forum, the U.S. Access Board, AFCEA Bethesda, and the National Defense University.
Bernetta enjoys innovating and engaging communities through digital communications while working to advance the mission and priorities of federal agencies.
