Richard Seim, Ph.D.

Richard Seim, Ph.D. is a staff psychologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Education & Dissemination Core Center. He works closely with returning veterans, providing clinical services to veterans enrolled in a residential treatment facility for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder and substance abuse disorders. Additionally, he serves as the associate director of training for the undergraduate student research internship program and manages outreach and advertising needs of the center. The Center faced many challenges upon Richard’s arrival. Particularly they were working with outdated digital materials, limiting their recruitment outreach and they had no centralized infrastructure for metrics reporting and management. In order to remedy this issues, Richard took it upon himself to learn cascading style sheets (CCS) and HTML programming in order to revamp the agency’s website so it was more accessible to the public. He also introduced new databases and management systems that allowed the center to respond to requests in a clear and concise manner.
